Getting LOST in my writing

It’s Trifextra Weekend Challenge time. And this one proved to be hard! All entries must total exactly 33 words and they must include the word ‘Lost’ in the title but not in the story itself.

As soon as I read that word, my mom-liness kicked in … and here’s what I did with it.

Trifextra Entry – Lost

When she turned, he was gone. “Duncan?” she shouted, scanning the room. Her pulse hastened. Her chest tightened. Now trembling, she called again and heard him, giggling from his hiding spot. “Hi, Mama!”

Hang on to your babies. It only takes a second. God, what a terrible feeling …

You NEVER forget this feeling. I’ve been there. I don’t know who was more scared, me or T when I found him. He saw the absolute fear on my face and broke down into tears. “Trembling”…perfect word!

even worse for a Nana who somehow loses sight of one of her grandbabies. Hard to do now, though as the oldest towers above me and 3 of the other 7 also see me from above. I’m holding onto the 3 others, hoping against hope they stay little awhile longer. 🙂

My son is a flight risk.
I’ve known this feeling too much here recently.
Dear God he can vanish poof like that and be gone like I’d never had him.

I’ve had that moment of panic with one of my kids too. She loved to hide under clothing racks when we’d do shopping.

Yeah, it’s horrible. Happened to me with my kid who was 6 at the time, in the worlds largest McDonalds at the time. He turned out to have found a table right over the highway. I had him carry the food from then on.
